Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal Visits The Good Loaf in Northampton

A Royal Visit Recognising Community Impact

The Good Loaf was honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to its Northampton bakery and café on Wednesday 29 October 2025, in recognition of the organisation’s work supporting women to rebuild their lives through employment, training and community.

Founded in 2015, The Good Loaf is an award-winning social enterprise that helps women facing significant barriers to employment, including those affected by homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health challenges, the criminal justice system and long-term unemployment. Through hands-on training in artisan baking, catering and hospitality, participants gain valuable skills, confidence and practical work experience to help them move forward.

During her visit, Her Royal Highness toured the bakery, met members of the team, volunteers, supporters and women currently taking part in The Good Loaf’s programmes. She also spent time learning about the charity’s wider social impact and hearing first-hand how the organisation continues to transform lives across Northamptonshire.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the dedication of everyone involved with The Good Loaf, from staff and volunteers to the many customers whose ongoing support makes its work possible.

The visit concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and the presentation of a specially prepared Good Loaf hamper, marking an occasion that everyone involved with the organisation will remember for many years to come.

As The Good Loaf continues to grow, its mission remains unchanged: creating opportunities, building confidence and supporting women towards brighter futures through meaningful employment and the power of community.
